Usage Statistics Reports: Tier 1 & Tier 2 Resources

There are two types of usage statistics reports: By Month and By Year

Monthly ScholarlyStats Usage Reports:

ScholarlyStats is a service licensed by CDL that provides a single point of access to standardized consolidated usage statistics reports from many of the largest and most important publishers and database providers. 2006-2009 monthly COUNTER usage reports are posted on ScholarlyStats for the 10 UC campus library accounts, 2 UC national laboratories accounts and a CDL systemwide account. The CDL account to ScholarlyStats provides aggregated usage statistics; each individual campus and laboratory account provides local level statistics reports. See details.

Reasons for missing usage data

• The platforms/publishers included in ScholarlyStats service are selective. To see a list of included platforms, click here.
• The platforms/publishers may be late posting their usage reports for a variety of reasons. ScholarlyStats generally collects usage statistics for a given month on the nth day of the following month:  for example, statistics for February are normally collected by April 20th.  If the provider is late in posting usage reports, the reports will generally be available in the next monthly collection cycle.
• Once ScholarlyStats finishes the calendar year collection cycle, they generally do not re-collect or correct any data in the previous years' reports

Annual Usage Reports:

CDL compiles annual UC systemwide and campus-by-campus aggregated usage statistics for Tier 1 and Tier 2 journals and databases by calendar year. Most of the usage data included in the following reports are COUNTER compliant.

There are three types of reports available

• Ejournal article downloads
• Database searches and sessions
• Ebooks section downloads New!

The annual reports contain broader coverage of resources than do the ScholarlyStats reports. Some resources included here are not covered by the ScholarlyStats service at present. In addition, the aggregated annual reports represent a consortial view of all campus data with two years trends. These CDL reports are selective, however, and not every publisher or vendor provides usage statistics. CDL will monitor usage for newly licensed resources. Any suggestions for titles to be included on the resource list are welcome.
